During your safari we often recommend a break in the driving and take some hours to enjoy the nature by foot. Seeing the monkeys playing in the trees, different insects, butterflies, trees and plants. The vegetation is unique, and you will see trees that are used in the traditional medicine but remember that the rain forest is also the home to many of the modern medicines.
Most popular in Tanzania may be the Udzungwa Forest National Park, Amani Nature Reserve, the Ngorongoro forest, and of course the forest around the foot of Kilimanjaro.
Your Kilimanjaro climb will always go through the forest the first day, but how much forest you will see depends on the route you choose. If you like to go the green route we will be sure to advice according to when you like to do the walk.
The untouched forest in Udzungwa is easy to combine with your safari to Mikumi or Ruaha.
The chimpanzees of course they live in the forest, so if you choose to go to Mahale or Gombe National Park to see the chimpanzees you will be climbing the forest.
Amani Nature Reserve is one of the best destinations in the south of Tanzania if you want a more extensive forest experience. Sleep at the nice but affordable lodge here for a couple of nights to get the most out of it.
