Tarangire National Park is located in northern Tanzania, about 120 km (2-hour drive) southwest of Arusha. It is part of the Northern Safari Circuit. This makes it an ideal stop on the way to Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater.
How to Get to Tarangire:
By Air: Domestic flights depart from Arusha, Serengeti, or Zanzibar. These flights land at Kuro Airstrip, located inside the park.
By Road: A 2-hour drive from Arusha, making it a perfect day-trip safari for those short on time.
Tarangire has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Tanzania. This is especially true during the dry season (June – October). During this time, animals gather around the Tarangire River.
Over 3,000 elephants roam the park during peak season.
Large buffalo herds dominate the grasslands.
Rare antelope species, including fringe-eared oryx & greater kudu.
Giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and warthogs are common sightings.
