We pick you up at the airport and take you to our beach paradise just 40 km south from Dar es Salaam. If you request it we will make sure there is a car seat for your little one. Here you can enjoy the nice beach, quiet surrounding and not many other tourists. Cultural trips and long walks on the beach is possible, and the ocean is also ideal for snorkeling. Enjoy your new “home away from home”!

Today you can just get to know the people and get used to some of the differences you experience coming to Africa. You can enjoy swimming in the low tide as the surrounding corals are making huge calm swimming pools. Enjoy the lunch on the beach if you wish and evening snack on the roof top terrace as you watch the beautiful sunset painting the skies.

After a solid breakfast you head for the bush. About 5 hours trip will take you into the land of the elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras lions and other predators. When you arrive you will have some lunch before you enjoy a relaxing boat safari and let the kids get used to the camp.

These days you enjoy full days of safari in Selous Game Reserve. The children will love it as they are allowed to move around inside the car, they get to stand up i the seats, or you assist them to sit on the roof while the car is standing still and you can just enjoy the closeness to the animals. If you wish you bring a punch basket, or of the children are tiered you will just agree with the driver to go back to the lodge. You will return to the lodge before the sun sets. At the lodge you can enjoy some snack around the fire as you watch the sun setting over the mighty Rufiji River. A solid dinner will be served before you go back to your tent/bungalow.

This morning you start the day by going out on a walking safari from the camp. You will be walking together with a guard for your protection, but a guide will take you to see the bush by feet. You may see some animals on your tour but be sure to follow the rules. You will be looking for the small 5 – after learning about the big five on the safari, it is interesting to see the small elephant shrew, rhino beetle and so on. After the tour you go back to the lodge for breakfast before heading back to your “home away from home”.

Relax and enjoy the Beach, activities, culture and the people. We take you for guided walks in the area if you wish for no extra cost. Sometimes you can go with a local organization to assist with turtle hatching just for a kind contribution to the program. Go fishing with our local fisherman, get a demonstration of cashew nut roasting from the children from the village, or go to the school to visit, or to a home visit to learn more about the culture. Alternatively just enjoy quiet days on the beach.

Today you have a solid breakfast and say goodbye to your friends at The Lighthouse. We take you to Dar es Salaam for a little guided tour and to a local market by the ocean for some lunch and relaxation before we take you to the airport in good time before you fly back home.
